Ingredients
For the Dough:
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large)
1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/2 tsp salt
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for kneading)
For the Filling:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup softened butter
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp butter, softened
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, egg, and salt. Mix well.
Gradually add flour and stir until dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until soft and slightly sticky.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Roll out dough into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches). Spread with softened butter.
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over buttered dough.
Roll tightly from the long end and slice into 12 rolls. Place in a greased 9×13 baking dish.
Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake rolls for 25–28 minutes or until golden.
Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
To make ahead, refrigerate sliced rolls overnight before final rise. Add nuts or chocolate chips for variety.
