Description

A colorful and fizzy science experiment for kids that mimics a volcanic eruption using baking soda, vinegar, dish soap, and food coloring.

Ingredients

2 to 3 tablespoons baking soda

1 to 2 tablespoons dish soap

A few drops of food coloring or liquid watercolor

1/2 cup white distilled vinegar

A cup, small bottle, or toy volcano mold

Tray or large dish (to catch the lava)

Optional: Glitter for sparkly lava

Instructions

Place the volcano mold or cup on a tray to contain the eruption.

Add baking soda, dish soap, food coloring, and glitter into the mold.

Gently stir to combine all ingredients.

Slowly pour vinegar into the container.

Watch the foamy eruption burst from your volcano!

Try different colors, more or less soap, or glitter for variations.

Notes

Always supervise children. Perform the experiment in an easy-to-clean area. Great for science projects or themed parties.
