A flavorful and easy Chicken Chow Mein recipe packed with crisp vegetables, tender chicken, and saucy noodles. A perfect takeout-style dish made at home.
Ingredients
“2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced”,
“2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or canola oil)”,
“12 oz chow mein noodles”,
“1 1/2 cups shredded cabbage”,
“1/2 cup julienned carrot”,
“1/2 cup sliced green onions (optional)”,
“1 small onion, sliced”,
“2 tablespoons soy sauce”,
“1 tablespoon oyster sauce”,
“1 tablespoon hoisin sauce”,
“1 tablespoon cornstarch”,
“1/4 cup water”,
“Salt and pepper to taste”
Instructions
- “Bring a pot of water to boil and cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.”,
- “In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and water. Stir and set aside.”,
- “In another small bowl, mix cornstarch with a splash of water to make a slurry.”,
- “Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden and cooked through (5–6 minutes). Remove and set aside.”,
- “Add another tablespoon of oil to the same pan. Stir-fry onion, cabbage, carrots, and green onions for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.”,
- “Return chicken to the pan. Add cooked noodles and sauce. Toss everything together to combine.”,
- “Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens.”,
- “Adjust seasoning if necessary and serve hot.”
