Description

A flavorful and easy Chicken Chow Mein recipe packed with crisp vegetables, tender chicken, and saucy noodles. A perfect takeout-style dish made at home.


Ingredients

“2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced”,

“2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or canola oil)”,

“12 oz chow mein noodles”,

“1 1/2 cups shredded cabbage”,

“1/2 cup julienned carrot”,

“1/2 cup sliced green onions (optional)”,

“1 small onion, sliced”,

“2 tablespoons soy sauce”,

“1 tablespoon oyster sauce”,

“1 tablespoon hoisin sauce”,

“1 tablespoon cornstarch”,

“1/4 cup water”,

“Salt and pepper to taste”


Instructions

  1.  “Bring a pot of water to boil and cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.”,
  2.     “In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and water. Stir and set aside.”,
  3.     “In another small bowl, mix cornstarch with a splash of water to make a slurry.”,
  4.     “Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook until golden and cooked through (5–6 minutes). Remove and set aside.”,
  5.     “Add another tablespoon of oil to the same pan. Stir-fry onion, cabbage, carrots, and green onions for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.”,
  6.     “Return chicken to the pan. Add cooked noodles and sauce. Toss everything together to combine.”,
  7.     “Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens.”,
  8.     “Adjust seasoning if necessary and serve hot.”

Notes

Customize with your favorite vegetables. Leftovers store well for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
