Golden, pillowy donuts filled with whipped cream and fresh strawberries — these Strawberry Cream Bombs are a dreamy, homemade delight perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
300 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
1 egg
45 g (¼ cup) sugar
Pinch of salt
7 g dry yeast (about 2 tsp)
140 mL (â…— cup) warm milk
Oil for frying
1 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped to stiff peaks)
2 tbsp powdered sugar (for the cream)
½ cup fresh strawberries, diced
Optional: custard or pastry cream for layering
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, remaining sugar, egg, and salt. Mix into a soft dough and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
Cover and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
Roll dough to about ½ inch thick and cut into rounds. Let them rest on a floured tray for 30 minutes.
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts in batches, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden. Drain on paper towels.
Slice each donut halfway. Pipe whipped cream inside, add diced strawberries, and a spoonful of custard if using.
Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh. To save time, you can prep the dough the night before and store in the fridge.
