Ingredients
2 ¼ cups flour
1 cup butter (softened)
¾ cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
2 cups chocolate chips
½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using.
Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt on top before baking. Dough can be frozen for future use.
